There are 6 types of Thailand Visas. Here is a description of the visas and the requirements to qualify for each:

Tourist Visa

Tourist visa to Thailand is issued for 60 days and can be extended for up to 30 extra days. Tourist visas can either be single or multiple entries. You, however, need to change the visa to Non-Immigrant visa if you need to extend it for another 30 days. You can only extend by going to any of the neighboring country or city for example Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur or Penang.

Non-Immigrant Visa

This is usually a 90 day visa to Thailand, viable as a single visa. You can extend Non-Immigrant visa by conducting a visa run to the nearest city or country border. It is possible to open a bank account and obtain a work permit through Non-Immigrant visa. It is also possible to buy a condominium in Thailand or other properties that are legal for foreigners to own.

One Year Non-Immigrant Visa

It is valid for a maximum of one year, and it is a multiple entry visa. Every entry allows you to stay in Thailand for 90 days; you however need to go to the border every 90 days to renew the stamp at the immigration (visa run).

Marriage Visa & Retirement Visa

The fact that they are placed together does not mean that you are going to have a direct application of the two types of visas. You, however, need not to worry since it is not a complicated process as long as you are in a position to meet the financial requirements. To get a Thailand Marriage visa, you must be married to a Thai National. On the other hand, if you need Thailand Retirement visa, you have to be 50 years old and above.

It is as easy as plug and play to acquire the visa: first, you need to get yourself a non-immigration visa. Next, you will have to convert your non-immigrant visa to either marriage visa or non-immigrant visa. These are the major visas that will see you stay in Thailand for one year, and they are renewable. You will not need to travel to the border anymore or leave the kingdom.

Business Visa

Business visa is those looking to do business in Thailand legitimately. They are also called Non-Immigrant Business Visas. The visas allow you to acquire a work permit and run a bank account; you will still have to renew the visa at the border every 90 days.

Permanent Resident Visa

To be liable to earn the Permanent Residential Visa, you must have resided in Thailand for 3 consecutive years holding and renewing the one-year visa extensions. In case you have been married to a Thai for five or more years, your earnings must be 30,000 Baht/month. The single individuals should have their salaries at 80,000 Baht. You need to present to the immigration officials the 3 year personal tax statement showing the income requirement to get the visa.
